Mothers of Modern Ireland is a fascinating documentary exploring 100 years of Irish history through the lives of 32 grandmothers, one from each county of Ireland. Originally filmed in 2008 by Hannah Burke, Shane Dempsey and Thomas Flannery (fragments.ie), and launched last weekend, the series captivates you as these wonderful women recount their memories.
15 of the videos have been completed, and Tom Flannery is seeking 17 sponsors from the remaining counties so that the footage from those can be edited and added to the archive.
I can’t pick a favourite as they all enchant in their own way, and definitely look forward to watching the rest when they go online. Here’s four of the ladies taking us on their trip down memory lane, and you can watch the other videos on their website at Mothers of Modern Ireland.com
